We were actually really excited to try this screen door in our new home, we don’t have any attached screen doors on either the front or back door… we actually only have a regular front door and then a glass storm door as well as a regular door in the back.
We were pleased by the quality of the mesh when we pulled it out of the package, but were a little worried about the install when we realized that it may require some velcro permanently attached to our door frame. You can also use the tacks included, so that was our plan. However, when my husband went to install it on the front doorway he was not able to do so. The way our door frame is, and the way the doorway opens there isn’t a place to attach it to the inside of the house. He also didn’t want to install it on the outside because for one, the tacks would not have held onto our vinyl siding… and he definitely didn’t want to permanently attach strips of velcro to the front entrance of our home.
Our second attempt was on the back door but were faced with the same dilemma regarding the inside of the house… and since we have the glass storm door it wasn’t possible to attach it to the outside of the house. Pretty disappointing, especially considering how nice this cool day was, we would have enjoyed an extra breeze coming through the front door!
Despite all that I can tell you that the entrance to the screen door looks like it would definitely hold up to any bugs that would want to come in, though I’m not sure how you would prevent them from coming in at the bottom.
