I am so excited to share these gorgeous journals with you! I knew I was going to love them when I received the opportunity to check them out but when I received them, I was blown away! They are so pretty! I’m a sucker for a good journal and I love using them for my bible study time and to jot down my prayers.
I’ve looked through all three and plan to utilize them all, but the one I am currently using is The Illustrated Word : An Illuminated Bible Coloring Journal. I just love this journal, it’s full of these gorgeous coloring pages, plenty of room to journal, and there are even little illustrations from the archives of the Museum of the Bible.
It is truly a beautiful journal. I’ve been using a variety of different markers, pens and colored pencils in my journal and the quality of the paper is superb. No bleeding, nothing smears, it’s perfect!
The second journal is the Illuminate Your Story Journal. Another gorgeous journal. I love that this one has a place to slide a pen on the binding and it has an elastic closure rubber band.
If you like Renaissance style lettering you’ll love this one, there is a brief history on Illuminated Letters at the front of the book and then it gives you instructions and steps on how to create them yourself! How cool is that?! What a fun way to add some art and hand lettering to your journal.
The journaling pages have little quotes here and there, the first one for instance, is from Laura Ingalls Wilder, “As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful.”
I also love that there is a keepsake pocket at the very back of the book, as well as a bookmark so that you can easily find your place! The pages on this one is also very durable and my markers don’t bleed through!
The third and last journal I have is the Faith & Lettering Journal – I think I’m most excited about diving into this one soon. I absolutely love the cover and that this one also has the spot on the binding for a pen.
In the first few pages you’ll find an introduction about faith and hand lettering and some tips on how to use this book. Throughout the book are these beautiful hand lettering pages with bible verses – they are seriously beautiful. The picture below is one of my favorites in the whole journal, it’s also one of my favorite verses!
One of my favorite aspects of this particular journal are the pages where you can practice hand lettering. There are verses you can trace and then practice doing on your own. Then there are pages with graphing paper like backgrounds where you can practice basic hand lettering. You’ll also find basic journaling pages and dotted pages to practice your writing even more.
I am also loving the style of binding that all three of these journals have. If you look closely you’ll see that the front and back covers stand out a bit and the binding is a canvas type of material. This allows the books to lay completely flat… and that is so important when you are trying to journal! Don’t you hate when your books don’t lay flat and you have to keep pushing them down as you write?!?
What do you think about these journals? Are you a fan of hand lettering? Which journal is your favorite? Tell me in the comments below! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts! And please keep an eye out for my next Ellie Claire review, I have some devotional journals you will LOVE!
