Family Update

media (7 of 64)

I thought it might be about time to do a little update, lately all I’ve been posting is reviews and giveaways, but honestly that’s all I have the energy and time for! If you don’t blog… then you probably don’t know how much time it takes to keep one going. I’ll be back in full swing again at some point, but right now I’m focusing mainly on my family and reviewing some products here and there, so keep an eye out for some great giveaways (there’s one live right NOW!)

Baby Bird is 1 month old as of yesterday… how did that happen so quickly? She is so incredibly precious, she’s super laid back, easy going, and she handles the craziness of our household so well. She, just like every other baby, gets fussy now and then (like now… she’s currently wrapped tight to my chest and listening to “Baby Got Colic” while I type), but really… she’s just perfect.

Bubby is his normal, ornery and naughty self. I love that kid, he constantly keeps me on my toes and is the BEST at getting belly laughs out of anyone around him. He’s also, and I say this with SO MUCH affection, kind of a turd. This child already knows how to get on his big sister’s nerves, and let me tell you… he is a professional. He tortures that poor girl and finds it HILARIOUS, taking her dolls, throwing her toys, pinching her, just being downright naughty. BOYS. Boogie will figure things out eventually, but I’m afraid Bubby may regret these days eventually when he realizes he has TWO sisters to gang up on him! Uh oh! No, really he’s a fantastic little boy and he absolutely lights up my life.

Boogie, my sweet, beautiful Boogie turned 4 last week. I need to post a birthday update for her as well, I’ll probably work on that this weekend. You think Bubby’s birthday update had a ton of pictures… you just wait! Boogie is trying to figure this whole “big girl” thing out, meaning she’s testing boundaries, learning how to cop an attitude (ay yi yi), and is trying to find her way in this world. It’s hard on her and it’s hard on mommy, that’s for sure. I’m trying some new things in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, things will go a little smoother. My hope is that she and I will have a good relationship throughout these many trials and battles… Lord willing. Anyways, Boogie is super excited about trying some new things for school with me, she is smart as a whip and has been asking to learn how to read, so we’re starting that, I’m also creating some workbox drawers for her, and she also received a “big girl” Tag Reader/pen for Christmas and has really enjoyed using that during Bubby’s naptime. I can’t wait to start posting some more home school posts about all of those fun things!

J has been at his new job for about a month and 2 weeks now, he’s so much happier and I’m so glad for him. I dislike how far he is from us (almost an hour commute, and it may be an hour or more commute when they place him in his own facility), but hopefully this will be his forever job and will create amazing opportunities for all of us in the future. We’re praying that they place him in his own facility by next month so we can get into a normal routine around here.

As for me, well… I’m just doing the mommy thing, taking care of my babies, my hubby and home. Not much time to do anything else, but honestly I’m good with that right now. The moments when things ARE quiet and I’m not overloaded with chores and tasks to be accomplished, I’ve relished in having a new baby in my arms.

IMG_9356

I mentioned in a recent Facebook status on my private profile that I can understand why Michelle Duggar kept having baby after baby after baby… they are pure bliss. I think I finally have J convinced that one more wouldn’t be so bad, I think I’ll feel like our family is complete after that! And I’m secretly (or not so secretly) hoping for another little girl… I’m not so sure I could handle another Bubby, ha!

That’s it for now, like I said, things are busy busy around here, but I’ll be around. Look for a (late) birthday update on Boogie and some more reviews/giveaways soon! Until next time, God Bless!

Happy 2nd Birthday Bubby!

Exactly two years ago today I had just finished at my 40 week (+1 day) appointment with my midwife and my contractions started picking up. I didn’t know at the time, but this little boy of mine was going to come into this world like a whirlwind and NEVER EVER slow down!

67 40 weeks

We made it to the hospital around 2-2:30pm, the staff took FOREVER in triage to check my dilation and admit me… I think they were a little shocked when they discovered I was 7cm! Apparently I didn’t “act” like I was in transition… yet.

IMG_0747

We got to our room around 3:30 and Bubby was born at 4:07pm, 7 pounds 10 ounces, 19.3 inches long.

IMG_0748

This little boy has brought so much joy to our lives… and let me tell you… boys are definitely an adventure!

IMG_1088

I have and am still learning patience… because this child has tested it more than his big sister EVER has.

IMG_1516

I have discovered that even at the tender age of 2 that boys find potty talk astronomically hilarious.

IMG_1862

I’m also realizing that even as close as these two are (they are almost exactly 23 months apart) that they bicker like cats and dogs… who knew a 2 year old could drive his almost 4 year old sister so crazy?

IMG_2422

Bumps, bruises, scratches, boo-boo’s, and blood don’t surprise or shock me anymore… and I’m learning to panic a little less.

IMG_2508

I’ve learned that those baby blues (which have slowly turned to hazel) melt me… more than they should probably!

IMG_2943

The bigger he gets (and the bigger Boogie gets) I find myself cherishing those “I luh you mommy” moments.

IMG_3593

I’m cherishing his chubby fingers reaching out to hold my hand, his little chunky feet pitter pattering into my bedroom early in the morning, and his sweet little voice saying, “Daddy… mommy… I want ceweal!”

IMG_3594

I catch myself savoring the sweet smell of his skin, no longer baby but still precious… I catch myself nuzzling him when he sleeps, those rare moments when he falls asleep resting against me.

IMG_3903

This messy, dirty, silly boy keeps me on my toes, there is never time for rest or relaxation when it comes to him…

IMG_5327

He is wild, destructive and ornery.

IMG_6110

He is tender hearted and full of the most amazing smiles.

IMG_6272

He is all boy… sports, superheroes, big trucks… this kid loves them all.

IMG_7012

Days of nursing him are long gone, hours of naps in my arms are long gone, gummy smiles are long gone…

IMG_7577

My baby boy is becoming a big boy before my eyes… and he reminds me often… “Mommy! I am a BIG boy!”

IMG_8154

I can’t wait to see what the Lord does in this little man’s life, to see what He uses his life for… I have a feeling that whatever it is, it will be a grand adventure.

IMG_8303

Bubby, mommy loves you to the moon and back… and back again. As CRAZY as you drive me sometimes, I thank God EVERY. SINGLE. DAY that he allowed me to be your mommy. Every day I am blessed because I’m allowed to witness your silly laughter, smiles, and joy. Daddy, Boogie and I wouldn’t be the same without you, and I’m sure Baby Bird is going to adore having you as her big bubby. “I luh you” sweet boy, happy birthday!

Our family has a lot going on right now and when I came across this quote… it really hit home. So here’s my sweet boy looking out the window waiting on his daddy to come home and the quote that’s keeping me going today!

Love These Babies!

It’s been a while since I really posted about life and the kids… and myself in general. Sure, there have been posts here and there updating on the kids and such, but I’ve neglected what I wanted this blog to really be about. I do love sharing reviews and giveaways, but that’s not what I want my sole focus to be.

IMG_7565

Our family is growing very quickly before my eyes! That also means new challenges and phases to learn and work through. I realize that as our children get older each age will show different and harder challenges, but so far, with our experience…. age 3 is ROUGH.

Boogie is really coming into her own, she’s also incredibly headstrong, stubborn and her emotions run high. She’s very tender hearted, as she has always been… I have a feeling that her teenage years will be full of a rollercoaster of emotions, and someday, when she starts having babies, her pregnancies will be as emotional as I have found myself during mine. At age 3, she has definitely started challenging J and I when it comes to discipline and respect. She’s pushing boundaries, pushing our patience, and she constantly makes me question whether I’m doing the right thing as a parent or not. It’s HARD… but she’s also teaching me so much about being a mother, I love that she is my oldest and that she and I are learning together. My beautiful girl is going to be a remarkable young woman, I know that with all the things she is showing me at the tender age of 3, that she will be a strong and determined woman.

IMG_7566

Bubby… oh sweet, adorable Bubby. This boy of mine, we are constantly joking that God made him awfully cute for good reason. As Bubby says when he gets scolded or in trouble, “naughty, naughty!” Indeed… this child is naughty! Not to say he isn’t also incredibly sweet and well mannered most of the time, but he is constantly keeping me on my toes. He gets into EVERYTHING, we think we have everything Bubby proofed and then BAM! He finds something else to get into. It’s insane! That’s been really new for us, Boogie never really got into anything once we toddler proofed our home, he’s been an entirely different story however. But as many times as I’m running to get him out of a mess or chasing him down to clean him up, I find myself, twice as often, in fits of hysterical laughter. This kid is hilarious, and he has a smile that just SCREAMS of naughtiness.  We took the kids to a blueberry patch yesterday and the ENTIRE time, Bubby was just shoveling berry after berry into his mouth. He had absolutely no interest in picking and putting them in our baskets. This kid is amazing, I can’t wait to see the joy he brings to the rest of our lives.

IMG_7573

I am so blessed to have these babies call me Mommy, Baby Bird is going to have the best big sister and brother she could wish for. They might drive me absolutely insane some days (like today… as I’m trying to do my best to rest so I can get rid of this awful plague that J was SO kind to share with me) but the best days outweigh the worst!

Move & Groove Review

I’m always looking for ways to keep my kids active, especially when it’s too hot and humid (which it can be very much so where we live in the summer) or too rainy out to play. So when I saw this toy/game….. I had to try it! IMG_3419

Sorry for the grainy picture, I couldn’t get her to sit still long enough to grab my camera so I used my iPhone!

Anyways, this is the Move & Groove, Your Child’s First Dance Game. Boogie absolutely loved this! Bubby didn’t totally get it, though I think once we play it a few more times he’ll get the hang of it (he’s 20 months). You have a deck of cards with 6 different colored categories, you use the plush die to roll for a color and draw a card from the coordinating color. Some of the cards include dancing like a duck, dancing the disco, play the air guitar, etc. We blasted Pharrel’s “Happy” and Boogie danced her tushy off. She had an absolute blast playing this game and begs to play it daily now! It’s a great, fun way to keep them active and have fun at the same time. I highly recommend this game, especially if you are needing something for those yucky rainy days!

This game is recommended for children 18 months and up, though like I said, it’s taking Bubby (20 months) a little longer to get the gist of it. This game is super beneficial to help build your child’s gross motor skills, balance, and coordination.
