Savvy Baby Breathable Mesh Crib Bumper Review

Hopefully you know by now that regular bumpers that come included with many crib sets are not safe. They raise the risk of suffocation, strangulation, or entrapment in your baby’s crib, and NO one wants to risk that with their precious little one! We’ve been hoping to try a mesh liner like this since Boogie was a baby but just never got around to purchasing one. I’m so glad we finally got to try a set!

This particular set was a pain in the rear to install, the package doesn’t come with instructions, just a website that has a few written steps, and a message that a video is coming soon…. the video was NEEDED. I couldn’t figure it out at all, so I recruited J and while he did eventually figure it out, he got pretty frustrated at it. So that was a small downside.

Beyond all of that… we love it! It fits our standard sized crib perfectly and I feel comfortable placing Bird in her crib knowing that her limbs won’t hang out and wake her up, she won’t risk pressing her face into a fabric that isn’t breathable and I can see through the mesh to her when I’m lying in my own bed!

One of my favorite aspects of Savvy Baby’s company is that they guarantee your satisfaction or they will give you your money back. You really have to stand by your product to do that, so I’m a proud supporter of this company! Go Savvy Baby!

You can find the mesh liner HERE if you’d like to order a set for your little one!

QuickZip Fitted Crib Zipper Sheet Set Review

If you’re a veteran parent then you know that when your baby has a leaky diaper or spits up, or if your toddler has an accident in the middle of the night that changing those crib/toddler bed sheets is SUCH a pain. Especially when said baby/toddler is fussy and ready to lay back down! These sheets are the solution! I didn’t even know these existed, but I’m pretty excited about them!

As you can see there is a base sheet that goes on the mattress, then you have the top sheet that just zips on and off! It’s such a breeze! I didn’t get a shot of the sheets on Bubby’s bed, but I got one of him sleeping on them soundly 🙂

When you purchase these from Amazon you get one top sheet and one bottom sheet, you’ll want to order an additional top sheet so that you can easily replace the dirty sheet without having to wait for it to be washed and dried!

You can find the top/bottom set HERE and the single top sheets HERE. We chose the gray sheets so that they would work for Bubby and Baby Bird.

I also love that these are pre-shrunk, so no worries that the sheets will shrink up the first time you wash them. We are looking forward to trying these in the crib as well, we all know that that’s the WORST place to have to change sheets in the middle of the night!

Jammies Infant Sleep Sack Review

This might be the cutest baby product I’ve reviewed… of course being owl obsessed I’m loving the sweet little owls found on this sleep sack! I was so excited for the opportunity to review this and be able to use it with our sweet new Baby Bird… and OWLS!!!!

How adorable is that? I received this in the mail while I was still pregnant with Bird, but I immediately opened the clear package to inspect the fabric… so so soft. Perfect for a newborn with sensitive skin! Boogie and Bubby both loved being swaddled when they were born, so I had high hopes that Bird would be the same way. I was a little surprised at the size of the swaddle, though I knew that most swaddles were big on my newborns anyways.

I love the lining of this swaddler, it’s incredibly soft, fluffy and warm… and when you have winter babies like we do, you have to have warm layers for night time! I washed this as instructed, it came out just as soft as it was in the packaging but the label on the front fell off. That’s no big deal, but good to know if you buy one yourself. My label actually attached to another blanket, but luckily (and thankfully) it came off no problem.

Baby Bird is a little over 2 weeks old and we’ve used several different types of swaddle blankets and sleep sacks… this baby does NOT like to be swaddled. But that doesn’t affect my review for this sleep sack… I’m still in love with it and hoping I can sweet talk this girl into loving being swaddled!

See that expression? That is Baby Bird’s signature “What the heck are you doing to me?” look… she uses it a LOT. And one thing that drives me crazy is that the print is upside down on this side… not sure if all the sleep sacks that Jammies sell are like this, but it’s driving me crazy. But that’s just the OCD in me being obnoxious, it’s not a deal breaker and doesn’t hinder how you use the sack.

For this little mini photo shoot Baby Bird cooperated pretty well… she still wasn’t impressed but she didn’t yell at me for putting her in the sleep sack! And how cute is she?

As you can see in this last picture, even at 2 weeks old it still swallows her whole, but I like the fact that that means she can use it longer! Overall I’m very impressed with the quality of this product and would recommend it if you’re looking for a super snuggly way to swaddle your baby!

You can purchase one of these swaddles directly from Amazon for $35.99 with FREE shipping! It also comes in a more gender neutral (or boyish) print and another fabulous pink owl print, you can find those on Amazon as well for $35.99 with FREE shipping.

Exhaustion is An Understatement

Sleep has become a fairy tale in our house. Sweet Boogie sleeps as deeply and as beautifully as Princess Aurora, and Bubby…. Screams. And screams. And screams. Bedtime routine is a breeze most of the time, we bathe every 3rd day, brush teeth and hair, put on jammies, read books and devotional, hugs and kisses, and then Bubby gets his mommy milk time. For the most part, both kids go to sleep fairly well and Bubby sleeps until midnight or 1am. Or if my eyes close and I start drifting off to dreamland, Bubby’s “mommy is asleep!” censor goes off and all hell breaks loose…. You may think I’m kidding, but I’m really not.

Last night was one of the worst nights we’ve had in a long time. As usual little man went down fine and slept for a few hours…. Then things went south. The first time he woke up he started with the screaming and hitting and thrashing, then when I finally got him calmed down he went to sleep fine! He second time, which was just a short hour later, it took J and myself 2 hours to get him back down. That involved more screaming, more thrashing, more hitting, more tantrums… Yay. He finally went back down and then woke up again an hour later.

This time it took us 2 1/2 hours to get him down. Tempers flared, tears were shed, begging and consoling occurred. It was awful. Headaches, dizziness, nausea… Pure exhaustion. This child needs to sleep. This is NOT normal! Waking every 2-3 hours with a newborn is easier than this. I’m at a loss, we’ve tried everything. Music, white noise, co-sleeping, shared room with Boog, different bedtime routines, warmer/cooler jammies, changing nap time, wearing him out during the day (that just means he goes down even easier at bedtime), etc.

Have you ever been through this? I haven’t even really described how he acts during these wake up times, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t embarrassed by his behavior during those times. And I’m ashamed to say that I have considered weaning him because of how he treats me when I deny him milk (in my defense, if I nurse him one time at night he thinks he can stay latched to me all night, so when I unlatch him he becomes violent and inconsolable). I don’t know what to do. Any advice? Tips?

What a Monster!

My sweet little boy has been a bit of a monster this week… I’m sure you have noticed that I haven’t been posting as often as usual, and he would be the reason! I have pretty much held, wore, or laid with him 24/7 this week. I don’t know if it’s teething, a growth spurt, or him feeling yucky, but whatever it is, I am wore out! I need a mommy break, that’s for sure!

So, please pray for us, pray that Bubby starts sleeping better again and that we can get him back into his crib (we moved him to his crib a month ago, 2 weeks in he started this whole waking up ever 45 minute thing), that whatever is bothering him eases off, and that we all get some rest SOON! This momma is EXHAUSTED.

I’m hoping to get the last installment of my pumpkin recipes/tutorials posted tomorrow, so be looking for that! Praying I can get Bubby down at the same time Boogie and Miss V go down for a nap! We are also finishing our A is for Apple tot school stuff this week, so I’ll be posting a little about that as well!!!

Until next time, God Bless!
